This year Sky was a little dancing kitty for Halloween. Why? Because she loves kitties and she loves to dance. It was the best of both worlds. Plus, it was adorable.
I made her little tutu while she was napping on Friday. My friend Amy is throwing a ballerina birthday party for her daughter and showed me her tutus a couple of weeks ago and I knew Sky would love one. She also loves her kitty hoodie, so I borrowed a tail from my friend Jen and it all came together into a dancing kitty costume.
When she woke up from her nap, I said, "Sky, I made you something! Look!" and showed her the tutu. She got all excited, but she wasn't sure if she should let me put it on her. After a minute she said I could try it on her. As soon as I tied it on, she said, "Oh, it's my Olivia!"
(Olivia is a cartoon Sky loves about a little girly girl pig--a few of the episodes are about her taking a ballet class. I love that she put that together and called the tutu her "Olivia.")
Just look at this happy little kitty! I had the hardest time getting a decent picture of her because all she wanted to do was run and dance, and she kept standing in little patches of sun. But here's one!
And here is how most of the pictures turned out:
The tail was a huge distraction for a while. She wanted it in the front of her skirt so she could watch it. Once I convinced her that it needed to stay on the back of her skirt, she left it alone. But for a while there...
And here she is doing the pose she does if you tell her to be sweet; sometimes she leans too far and falls over:
Friday night we went to our ward Trunk-or-Treat party. Aside from being scared of two little girls who were dressed as skeletons, Sky had a blast. She was shy and would only whisper "trick-or-treat," but she went to every car and got some candy for her pumpkin bucket.
She even stole a balloon that was tied to a baby pumpkin ("Oh! A baby pumpkin! It's so cute!") from one of the tables. The balloon is STILL floating. I thought it would be dead Saturday morning, but it's now Sunday night and the sucker is still going strong.
Here she is with her favorite little friend Mia! They love each other. Sky is always asking about Mia and wanting to play with Mia, so she was really excited to hang out with her at Trunk-or-Treat!
Hope you all had a great Halloween weekend! We sure did. We had nine (9) trick-or-treaters this year. I was very generous handing treats out to all nine of them, but we still have plenty of leftover candy and mini card decks. Go Fish anyone?
