I'm a Big Sister Now!

I love how proud and excited Skylar is to be a big sister! She's constantly telling us (and everyone she sees) "I'm a big sister now!" and asks to hold Harper at least 20 times a day. She is so sweet and gentle with her. Man, I am glad we had another girl because if you saw how Sky treats little boys...

Don't worry, Leisa. I have been taking lots of photos to remind them how much they love each other when they are older and fighting over toys. And now I'm going to post some. Chronologically. Because that's how I roll.

You know what I noticed today? In usual newborn fashion, Harper sleeps through everything. She sleeps through loud noises, Mike's sneezes, the vacuum, etc. But if Sky starts talking, Harper perks up.

It's either love or fear, and we're at least 94% sure it's love! Ah, sisters :)

2 Weeks Old!

Harper is 2 weeks old today!

I know what you're thinking: "That's crazy talk!" But it's the truth.

She is a full 2 weeks old and we think she's back up to her birth weight. So says Wii Fit. We'll find out for sure at her 2-week checkup tomorrow morning.

The weather was great today, so we took Harper on her first walk. Sky rode in the stroller with her sunglasses upside down and her pup-pup on her lap, while Harper took her maiden voyage in the baby carrier.

I snapped a quick photo of her and her seahorse before she got ticked off and started to cry. You know what happens when you decide to take a nap instead of take pictures of your child and when you finally get around to the picture-taking your baby is hungry, the sun is going down and the house is getting too dark for photos? You take what you can get. That's what. And this is what I got.

Happy 2 weeks to our little elf!

Mommy, Where's Sky?

I can never find Sky these days. She is an excellent hider. Behold her skills:

1 Week Old!

How is it possible that our tiny Harper is 1 week old?!

We are so in love with this little girl. Skylar is a seriously excellent big sister and is constantly checking up on Harper. If she had it her way, the baby would constantly have a binky in her mouth, but since Harper never cries Sky rarely gets to shove one in.

When Crew was a little baby, Leisa took a series of growing photos using a stuffed bear to show how much he was changing from month to month. I loved that idea and wish I had done it with Sky. So here is installment 1 of Growing Up: Harper!

Naturally, I've decided to use Harper's seahorse because Sky makes sure it is always next to her.

Note: she was having a sad moment when I decided to take some shots, so they aren't fabulous. They show her tiny self, though, and that was the goal! Maybe I will get a better one tomorrow, but since today she is 1 week old, I'm posting what I've got.

I love how she's sort of smiling in this one :)

Phew! I feel like I've accomplished so much just by getting a post up today! Be proud, faithful readers. Be proud.

Harper Rose!

Introducing:
Harper Rose Comfoltey!

(I am not a photographer and I'm not pretending to be one; I just love nakey baby pictures and I don't have a photographer handy.)

I know I've taken my sweet time and now I'm only giving you a couple of pictures, but it's better than nothing! Grammy and Sky are at the park (it's 62 degrees outside!) so I'm finally getting around to posting something.

Little Harper was born exactly 3 weeks early on January 12, 2011 at 11:41am.

She weighed 5lbs, 2oz and measured 18.5" long. Her tiny head measured 12.5". She is perfectly healthy and so tiny we hardly know what to do with her! Her hands can't even wrap around my finger, and I don't exactly have monster fingers here.

Harper weighed 4lbs 13oz when we took her to the doctor for a checkup on Friday, which just so happens to be what I weighed when I was born! Just an interesting little tidbit.

Harper is such a content little baby. Skylar is obsessed with her. (We are all obsessed with her!) There is nothing sweeter than seeing my two girls together. I am the world's proudest mommy :)

We are so happy to have Harper home with us!

Hospital at 8

Looks like this little girly is coming tonight or tomorrow. A whopping 3 weeks early! She must follow in her mommy's footsteps? Sky was a day late; she learned that one from Mikey.

I'm freaking out just a little. Didn't expect this today. I was going to go to the GAP outlet tomorrow, but that's off! I just spent yesterday washing and folding all of the tiny 0-3 month clothes from when Sky was a baby and realized we have almost no newborn size clothing. That's what happens when your first was never newborn size! I guess I will have to send Grammy to GAP for me to get teeny clothes for this teeny baby girl.

I am so excited and nervous and everything else that comes with a doctor saying, "She needs to come out now. Go have some dinner and be to the hospital at 8."

What's for dinner? I have other things on my mind.

Just an Update

This post will not entertain you, but if I don't write these things down I'll never remember them.

I had another checkup yesterday. I am now lucky enough to go in not once, but TWICE a week until this baby is born! WOOHOO!

Unless that brainless scheduling lady keeps screwing up my appointments. She seems to think "twice per week" means "twice per week, plus one extra for fun." This woman just keeps screwing up my schedule...ugh.

So here's the update: apparently the amniotic fluid is low and the baby is on the small side. Nothing too crazy, but they want to keep an eye on things just in case the fluid drops more or the baby stops gaining weight altogether. I now get to lay on a table with things strapped to my belly and Mike will get to come home for lunch to hang out with Sky so she doesn't have to sit around bored for a couple of hours every week. From the looks of things, we'll be having a January baby, so feel free to cast your votes on the big day!

Still hoping I won't have to be induced this time around. My doctor says I should have a couple of weeks before she'll talk about inducing. I'm guessing I should at least make it to my baby shower. :)

I'm a little weirded out by the idea of a tiny baby. Sky was 8lb, 2oz and 22" long. (Not tiny, but not huge.) My doctor is estimating around 6lbs if I go full term. For now, she is in the upper 4lb range and has a good, strong heartbeat--keep it up, little girly!

2011!

Happy New Year!

I really just wanted to post something today but it has been a busy day and time just flew. I think that's probably how this year is going to be. Can't wait!
