Good news! Our lovely little house in Utah is FINALLY under contract! Mike and I can't be more pleased. We are hoping for our realtor to send us a picture of the house with a "SOLD" sign in front sometime soon. Otherwise I'll just have to doctor up an old photo of the house with my own version of a "SOLD" sign.
Mike and I are on the hunt for a house in Reno now. We (mostly I) have spent numerous hours scouring homes online and we have been out to see about 8 homes so far. Once our sale is final we will be taking this purchasing business very seriously. We are so happy the house will be sold before the baby comes! Whether or not we actually get into a house before then is another story, but whatev! We are just entirely pleased to have someone buying the house we put so much work into!
I'll keep ya updated, peeps.

3 - 2...and the desserts win!
For our anniversary, Mike and I went out for filet mignon as has become a tradition for our anniversaries thus far. I'm a fan of it.
Unfortunately there is no Ruth's Chris in Reno, which happens to be our very favorite steak joint. We tried out a steak house recommended by some of Mike's coworkers who claimed it was better than Ruth's Chris. Well, it wasn't. But it was still pretty great!
The best part was dessert. Something possessed us to order a chocolate souffle at the beginning of the meal (to give them sufficient time to create said souffle). Although we knew this was coming, we decided to also order a creme brulee because...why not?
When the waiter turned up with our desserts, he came with not two but THREE desserts. Yes, that means we were outnumbered by our desserts (the baby doesn't count yet). The little dears had prepared a lovely slice of extremely rich chocolate cake "on the house" as an anniversary gift. We decided it was worth documenting.

Happy Anniversary: #3!!
Today Mike and I are celebrating our 3rd anniversary! Hard to believe it's already been three years. Here's a little overview of our favorite years together (just the good parts):

Year 2: AKA: Year of the Cats. Kitten turned into a cat and had 3 kittens of her own, one of which we kept. I took a job as a marketing consultant, then as a "pro" blogger. Mike switched majors from mechanical engineering to computer science--definitely a great decision. Cat had 7 more kittens before she met up with the vet. Good thing we love kittens!

Year 3: Got pregnant! Mikey graduated from BYU and took a job in Houston, which he then turned down after accepting a better job in Reno. We finished our basement and put the house up for sale, moved to Reno and Mikey started his job (which he loves). House is still waiting for the right buyer to come along, dangit.

As we enter year 4 we have plenty to be excited about and grateful for. Our little girl is due in 52 days and we can't wait! We hope for our house to sell soon so we can jump on the homeowner train in Reno. We are excited for another year together and can't wait to see what it brings!

Baby Shower at Grammy's
I don't know why it's taken me so long to get this posted! Better late than never I guess.
Last weekend my mom and sister, Leisa, threw me a baby shower. Woohoo!
The baby shower was at my parent's house and was tons of fun. Mike and I came home with some awesome baby loot! In the above photo I am holding a darling quilt hand-crafted by Leisa (aka: "Ms. Talent") herself. We were given some great little outfits, cute toys and safety gizmos (thanks Morgan!) and even a piggy bank -- well, a kitty bank -- to start our little girl's college fund! I tried on one of the baby's newborn dresses and it totally fit:
We also came home with some big ticket items we weren't expecting. Auntie Heather and her mommy gave us an adorable baby swing which we promptly set up before even leaving California. You should all know that the swing alone has caused Mike to kick into baby mode--he is secretly scheming and trying to come up with ways to speed this pregnancy along. I'll have to keep my eye on him...I think he may be tampering with nature's plans, though I can't be happier about his excitement and enthusiasm!
My parents bought us a fabulous travel crib which is totally cute and which we will be using a lot now that we live so close to the fam (we also set this up as soon as the baby shower ended--I mean, we had to check for missing parts, right?). Also, Mike's parents are funding the purchase of our crib and we are so excited. I'm holding off on said crib purchase for a bit--who knows what Mike will do if there is a place for the baby to sleep? Yep, it's far too dangerous of a purchase at this time.
Aside from gifts, the baby shower gave me the opportunity to spend some time with friends I don't get to see often. Naturally this was my favorite part of the shower. :)
Thanks Mom & Leisa for throwing a great baby shower! And thanks to all my friends and family for the lovely gifts and for taking the time and making the effort to come! Love you all!!

Even Without Cheerios
I remember a wonderful time in my youth which involved the Olympics and Olympic Cheerios. I'll never understand why they discontinued said Olympic Cheerios. It was the true breakfast of champions (I still have one of the Olympic Cheerios gold medals to prove it).

A Weekend at Home?!
For the past 3 weekends, we have been out of town. In fact, we have been out of town for more than half of our weekends since we moved to Reno! Our ward definitely thinks we are inactive.
This weekend, however, we will be sticking around. I don't know if we'll be doing much with the weekend, but we'll actually be in Reno for once and not driving through California! As much as I love visiting our families over the weekend, I have never spent so much time in a car as I have since May and am perfectly happy to have a break from long hours of driving.
Here are some things we may do this weekend:
- Get a crib!
- Rearrange bedroom to make room for said crib.
- Return some stuff to Target. (This is very likely as it will take all of 4 minutes to accomplish.)
- Relax at home.
- Hang out with some new friends.
- Fill out preregistration forms at the hospital.
- Set dental appointments.
That's all I got for now. Maybe we'll come up with something more interesting to do, but no matter what we end up doing with this weekend it will involve an extra 7 hours which would otherwise be spent driving. Yay!

60 Days?!
Mike just pointed out that the baby countdown is at 60. Weird! Let's take a poll:
The winner will be announced after the birth of said baby. It's the only way I know to determine the winner, after all!

Boyz in the Hood: Part 2
The second half of NickJosh's visit was probably less eventful than the first half, what with the lack of doctor's visits. Truth is, they were perfectly content chillaxin' at our apartment while playing hours and hours of Assassin's Creed, Black and White and messing around on Blender. I think they found it refreshing to be able to play without having anyone harass them about it, though I did constantly have to remind them to move away from the TV. For some reason they prefer to stand 1' from the 46" screen.
I felt fine about them playing video games for a week. It gave me a chance to finish reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Now I can move on to book 5!
Oh, as a quick side story Josh called up my mom Monday afternoon to ask if he could play Halo 2. Apparently he was concerned about the fact that the game sometimes uses profanities. If you know Josh, that's just him. Funny kid that he is, he dialed my parent's home number and couldn't get through. The conversation went as follows:
Josh: "What the crap? I dialed the phone number but nothing is happening. What the crap is wrong with the phone? This isn't working!"
Kylie: "You need to dial the area code--did you dial '925?'"
Josh: "I thought that is only if you are in another state."
Kylie: "We're in Nevada."
Josh: "What? I thought Reno was in California."
Mike: "Last night when we drove over the Nevada border we said, 'Welcome to Nevada!'"
Josh: "I thought you were kidding."
Mike: "Did you know Berkeley has a different area code than Orinda? So if you were in Berkeley you would have to dial '925' to call your house, too. That is only 10 minutes away from your house."
Josh (gives Mike a very skeptical look as if to say 'yeah, right'): "I'm going to call Mom now. So do I have to dial a '1' first?"
As reported in the previous post, we did end up going to see Hancock. Mike and I had already seen it, but we didn't mind seeing it again. It was either Hancock or Journey to the Center of the Earth (which Mike and I saw in 3D with some of his coworkers) and given the choice we chose Hancock.
Just before the movie started Mike came in with some popcorn, which spilled when he sat down. He went back out to ask for a refill, but apparently he wasn't quick enough. Nick wanted popcorn and he didn't want to wait. Here are some lovely shots of Nick eating popcorn that I can only assume was on the ground. Also, you can see that Josh is trying to keep him from making this huge mistake. (I did not encourage this popcorn eating, but I did comply to his requests for documentation of said event.)After the movie we went to Cold Stone where Nick waited for 15 minutes to use the bathroom only to find that a woman had clogged up the toilet and had been in the bathroom trying to plunge. I told him, "If someone has been in a bathroom for more than 5 minutes I wouldn't want to go in there after them." But Nick did go in after her, and finding the toilet to be clogged he apparently "went pee anyway," washed his hands and came back out. I don't want to know how that toilet story ends.
Thursday night we went to the pool again with Mike and some friends. Then we drove back to Orinda on Friday. Josh told me he didn't want to leave because he liked it here, so I'm going to go ahead and say they had a good time visiting us!
