Projects and Helpers

We have been very busy around here. Busy building things.

Like Adirondack chairs!

Nope. Not from a kit. And nope--you can't see them yet, because they aren't painted. They'll be better when they're finished.

Anyway, I was painting some benches in the garage while Mike was off in the back yard with Sky. I decided to go check on them and this is what I found:

Look at that little helper! She was putting the screws in place for Mike, and she was very clearly proud of herself. Then she saw me and it was all over:

Anyway, I thought it was so cute to see Sky helping Mike build our chairs. This kid is growing up so fast. Oh, and Mike says this project has been a "full family effort!" (I think he's impressed with himself to have come up with that little comment, so you should all mention how witty he is.)

May 22

Today is May 22.

It's snowing.

That's really all I wanted to say. Since paint dries best at a minimum temp of 50, it looks like I'll be finishing these projects another day. :(

AHRGGGG!

I am in a strangling-type mood right now. I think it's definitely time for a vacation...

So how are you doing? :)

All Tied Up

A few days ago while I was washing dishes Skylar started to cry. She ran up to me and said, "Oh no! Oh no! Rorah! Mommy, uh oh!"

"Rorah" means Lorax.

And this is what had happened to poor Lorax:

Wide! Wide!

We just bought a playset for Sky, and she is obsessed with it. She calls it the "wide!" (slide).

It has a slide (which is why we bought it), a little bridge, a tunnel, a clubhouse with a table and two stools, a climbing thing and even a lookout:

Of course, it's even more fun when your cat decides to play in it with you. Sky and Hero played in it for about 45 minutes this morning. Seriously! Skylar was so excited!

They played a little hide and seek:

Then they went down the slide:

Hero cheated.

Then Skylar found a brush and brushed hero for a while. Really, I don't see why this cat would ever want to run away from this kid.

Toilets 101

Sky peed in the toilet last night! The big toilet.

We don't even own a potty chair yet! That said, I have been perusing my options on Amazon.

I'd like to thank Mikey for making this moment happen. Thanks for always sticking our kid on the toilet at bath time, "just to see what will happen." Dad of the Year!

YUM!

I made a quick decision yesterday and ordered a bag of lollipops on Amazon. It was one of their lightening deals, and I saw it when there were only 4 minutes left.

(That means I only had 4 minutes to read reviews, watch a promotional video, etc. before the deal was gone forever, and if you know me you know it was a crazy impulse purchase! I mean, I bought 300+ lollipops online without ever having tasted them.)

I purchased them for the Sunbeams. I have been trying to find a treat that is cheap and that will keep them semi-quiet for a few minutes. Leisa suggested Dum-Dums, but I couldn't find them at Costco. Then yesterday I found this great deal and I couldn't pass it up! I thought, "Even if they aren't very tasty the kids will eat them. That's what 3-year-olds do."

Anyway, the lightening deal was a 5lb bag of YummyEarth Organic Lollipops for $14. Approximately 325 lollipops. That's about $0.04/pop. I can afford that.

Well, they just showed up at the door and they are amazing! Man, these are good. I just had a Mango Tango and now I'm working my way through a Sour Apple Tart.

We'll see how many I can manage to share with the Sunbeams.

Blind is the New Rested

My eyes don't work today. I think maybe I need more sleep.

Sometimes I think I'd be faster at adapting to blindness than at learning to sleep better...
