I named my red pepper plant Scarlett. Then on the way home Daniel said, "You know we'll be eating Scarlett's babies, right?" It kind of killed the whole thing for me.
Never name your food. And never play with your food. And never play with food that you have named. Or if you simply MUST name your food, stick with the basics like Ben & Jerry, Reece's, Pepsi, etc., then you don't feel so guilty.
