A certain friend of a certain blogger whom you all happen to know has requested that I post something about this whole pregnancy business.
It's not that I'm not excited about it, it's just that so far there isn't much to tell. I haven't had an ultrasound yet; haven't heard the heartbeat. In fact I mostly feel like I'm just me but feeling kind of crappy with the occasional wiggly business happening in my abdomen area. I don't know what the wiggly stuff is all about, but if that's the kid he/she sure is a wild one! Oh, and I sometimes have this annoying tinge of pain at my belly button to which Mike replied, "That's the umbilical cord." I know I'm new to this but I'm pretty sure the remnants of what made up my umbilical cord do not become the umbilical cord for my kids! hahaha! He's pretty funny, that Mikey. I love him.
The cool news is I have my first OBGYN appointment next Friday afternoon! I think that's the one where you hear the heartbeat, no? All I have to rely on are movies, people. If you happen to know more about this (Leisa, Mom, Gabrielle, Kaylene, etc.) feel free to share. I was demonstrating for Mike what it will sound like (swishy swish swishy swish) and I think he's skeptical. Again...I get this info from movies and TLC and that's what the baby heartbeats sound like from my television speakers.
So here's my pregnancy so far:
- No throwing up to date. Just the constant nausea and the occasional bad nausea.
- I'm constantly starving but nothing sounds good so I have a hard time eating.
- I'm tired and it is causing me to fall asleep, which in turn puts me in a bad mood because I hate to take naps. I'm beginning to accept the naps though, so the bad mood is becoming a thing of the past.
- No real mood swings. The nap thing doesn't count because I have always hated taking naps. I am a little more emotional, though. Definitely manageable!
- Weird wiggly business going on in the abdomen area. Also, little pop pop pops happening--I feel a bit like a popcorn machine.
- Not constipated, as people told me I would be. Gassy, though. I know you wanted that info.
- Not dizzy any more. That's a plus!
- Also a plus: bigger boobs. Or just "boobs" altogether. We Laney's got shafted in that respect, so it's nice to see how normal women live.
- Lastly, I have to pee a lot.

Maybe you have worms.
Hmm...definitely no worms, here. Good try, spunky.
1. babycenter.com = great and free. Get the weekly emails and it will tell you everything! More fun, current, and comprehensive than a book because you can read people's comments on message boards as well. Helped me know what was normal.
2. When you get to the point where you can't even keep down water, gatorade will save you. That was my best discovery.
3. They'll check the heartbeat at every appointment - 8 weeks might be too early to hear it, but you could see it on an ultrasound. By 10 weeks you can usually hear it with a doppler.
4. I had those belly-button tinges too - weird, but normal I guess - but not the umbilical cord :)
5. Do you feel just kind of like, aware of a new part of you that you never felt before? Aware is the only word I can think of for it. That's how I felt.
Kaylene, I am definitely signed up with babycenter.com. I love the weekly emails and all the articles that keep me entertained when I get bored! The message boards are great.
I'm excited to hear the heartbeat and have ultrasounds--I think it will make it seem more like something is actually going on. I kind of feel like I'm just tired and a little sick right now, so I'm ready for something different. I definitely pay more attention to everything now, though; kind of like I'm hoping to find something cool and new!
sounds all too familiar! Enjoy it! Can't wait till I see your little one!
I love how you just say it like it is. I was so shy up until Kadie was born and then I was like "what's up" to the nurses and doctors that saw every part of me. You will have no problem my gassy, big boobed, tired, nauseated sista!
