I've been mucho busy lately, which could be why I haven't yet posted much about the fact that we are now California residents. Well, we reside in CA anyway. Still need to hit the DMV to make it official.
How about an update? I'm tired, so here's a quicky!
Mike accepted a job with a company called 3LM about 5 weeks ago. We listed our house, and within 3 weeks, we had two offers. We negotiated, countered, counter-countered and the house is now in escrow.
Last weekend we picked up and moved to CA, leaving our house and cat behind. We miss both of them. :(
Oh, yeah. We decided to let our neighbors adopt Hero. Sky asked Mike today why Hero wasn't at The-House-With-The-Lemon-Tree with us. She wants to pet her cat and give her a treat, like the treat (Kit-Kat) she left for the mouse she may or may not have actually seen in the kitchen yesterday.
So far the move has been extra smooth. The transmission light was only on for most of the drive from Reno. The A/C almost kept me and the girlies cool in Sacramento's 101 heat. And the power and water in our house have each only been shut off once!
It's been really frustrating, but the water magically came back to life (yeah, Papa G!) and Mike, through much begging and pleading and a precious amount of loud sobbing, convinced the power company to turn the electricity back on yesterday. It was a Sunday and a holiday weekend! The Incredible Mike strikes again!
Also, Mike met with our landlord today. The place was not clean when we moved in, so a cleaning crew will come at some unknown date and time to make things sparkle (-ish), and the carpets will also be cleaned. How do houses get so dirty anyway??? Is your house nasty?
Don't tell me. Just clean it.
So we are now in CA! My family whipped out their impressive moving skills to help us unload our ridiculous amounts of stuff from the moving truck. Appliances were moved up and down two flights of stairs by people in the mid-5' range. This truly is impressive stuff here, people. My family is awesome! Look. This proves it!
Just try not to laugh at that picture. Try!
We are so thrilled to be here close to everyone. Mike starts his new job tomorrow! This is a great career opportunity for Mike, and since his company is owned by Motorola Mobility--and Motorola is being acquired by Google--it has even more potential than we could have imagined. Everything has fallen into place so far.
In only 5 weeks, our lives have taken a huge turn. It's going to be great!

Your family is awesome. That picture did prove it.
I continue to be impressed every time I see it.
